Roles at SIEVE: Baristas

SIEVE, a lively and cozy matcha coffee cafe in Ridgewood Queens, New York just opened this past Summer. We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled Baristas to join our team. Driven by our passion for health and wellness, and after extensive experimentation with various ratios, brands, and flavor profiles, we’ve curated a menu of drinks we personally love. Now we’re on a mission to share this experience for every palette, from those who enjoy salty umami to those who prefer nutty notes, and everything in between. Complementing our matcha we also offer a range of coffees, soft drinks and pastries.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of matcha and coffee beverages, ensuring high quality and consistency.
• Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive and welcoming environment for all SIEVE customers.
• Ability to share the values and SIEVE brand story with visitors
• Handle cash and process payments using our POS system.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including equipment and serving areas.
• Support new team members through training as needed.
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.
• Meet NYC DOH standards at all times.

Qualifications:

• Passion for coffee and matcha (required)
• Barista experience: 2 year minimum (required)
• Food handlers certificate is a must (required)
• Proficient in latte art, ability to dial in espresso, espresso drink preparation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the SIEVE team and customers
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand on your feet for up to 7-8 hours per day
• Must be eligible to work in the United States

Availability: Must be available on weekdays and weekends.

Compensation: $16.50-$17.50 +tips
